Hackney schools and friends will take over The Hackney Empire for one night only to Perform and present songs, spoken word, dances, drama, speeches, artwork and so much more to celebrate PRIDE month! Prepare yourself for a colourful, emotional, fun and highly entertaining evening.
The event is for all age groups, families and friends and has performances from primary, secondary and college students. Come and enjoy!
Educate & Celebrate, Hackney Museum, The Urswick School are committed to equalities and LGBT+ Inclusion. They all have a rich history in Hackney of engaging young people, teachers, parents and families in training, curriculum interventions, exhibitions, projects and community events and are excited to co-produce this showcase for schools with Hackney Empire.
Educate & Celebrate www.educateandcelebrate.org are an educational charity who transform schools into LGBT+ Friendly places lead by their CEO Dr Elly Barnes MBE who as a former teacher began the programme in Hackney Schools in 2005.
The Urswick School www.theurswickschool.co.uk received their Gold Educate & Celebrate Award for LGBT+ Inclusion lead by Deputy Head Martha Braggins. Hackney Museum develop exhibitions and collaborative projects exploring migration, identity and belonging in Hackney, including projects that are inclusive of and specifically focused on LGBTQIA histories and stories www.hackney.gov.uk/museum
