This year Grand Union Orchestra is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and where better than here, in their London home!
Not to be missed, the Fortieth Anniversary Show will feature all the Grand Union’s much-loved star performers – extraordinary singers and musicians from every major global musical tradition – on stage together for the first time since Lockdown.
Grand Union Orchestra shows have often begun or finished their national tours at the Empire. Who can forget the joyous anarchy of Doctor Carnival, helping London’s pitch for the Olympic Games? On Liberation Street with its stirring tales of resistance, struggles for freedom and independence? The spectacular depiction of the rise and fall of European trade in The Golden Road, the Unforgiving Sea, with the BBC Concert Orchestra? Or how the joys and sorrows of migration were evoked in Undream’d Shores?
With songs and music by Tony Haynes from our classic shows, these very special celebratory performances will lift the spirit and raise the banner of global harmony!
“Pan-stylistic, pan-rhythmic, pan-cultural, pan-everything! Grand Union Orchestra represents a unique and radical vision of multicultural Britain”
