We’re off to see the Wizard! Friday Night Is Music Night is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the MGM classic, ‘The Wizard of Oz’ at the Hackney Empire on Friday 22nd March. A stellar cast includes the Olivier award winning Rebecca Trehearn as Dorothy; the singer songwriter Joe Stilgoe as The Scarecrow; West End leads Hadley Fraser as The Tin Man and Trevor Dion Nicholas as the Cowardly Lion; and fresh from her triumph in ‘Caroline Or Change’, Sharon D. Clarke.

The concert also features music from ‘Wicked’, and the Michael Jackson, Diana Ross movie ‘The Wiz’ – both inspired by Frank L. Baum’s original Oz stories. For the first time on Radio 2, the actor Warwick Davis (Star Wars, Willow, Harry Potter) will present the concert.  Music includes ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’, ‘Follow the yellow Brick Road’, ‘Ease On Down the Road’, ‘The Wizard and I’ and more! With the sixty piece BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Broadway maestro Larry Blank.
